Trading in futures and options carries a high risk of loss. Please read this before you trade.
About 91% of individual traders in the equity derivatives segment made net losses in FY 2024–25. Their net losses totalled ₹1,05,603 crore after transaction costs, and the average loss was about ₹1.1 lakh per person.
Source: SEBI study of individual traders' profit and loss in equity derivatives, released July 2025. It covered about 96 lakh traders at the 13 largest brokers.Risks of F&O trading
- Leverage. A small move in the underlying can cause a loss larger than the margin you put up.
- Option buying. Premium can lose value quickly through time decay and falling volatility, and can go to zero at expiry.
- Option selling. Profit is limited to the premium received, while losses can be very large, especially on expiry days and after sudden news.
- Gaps and liquidity. Prices can jump past stop-losses, and some contracts are hard to exit at a fair price.
- Costs. Brokerage, STT, exchange charges, GST and stamp duty add up quickly for frequent traders.
What ApexDelta does and does not do
ApexDelta shows your own past trading results and patterns, such as the days, times and setups where you tend to lose money. This can help you review your trading. It does not predict markets, does not tell you what to trade, and cannot prevent losses.
Data and technology risks
Figures in the dashboard depend on data from brokers and market-data providers. They can be delayed, incomplete or wrong. Always check your broker's contract notes and P&L statements, which are the official record.
Before you trade
Trade only with money you can afford to lose. Read the risk disclosure documents from your broker and the exchanges. If you need investment advice, consult a SEBI-registered Investment Adviser.
